Be part of the action
We know that workplaces where staff have a say in decisions about health and safety are safer and healthier, so health and safety law requires companies to consult and involve their staff. People will support what they help to create. Mates in Mind advances these values for us to talk about mental health and offers everyone a chance to get involved.
Who can be part of the Mates in Mind action?
Your director, CEO or Board
Commitment at the highest level in the business sends the strongest signal that staff wellbeing matters and stigma and discrimination must end.
Your company
Mates in Mind provides access to training and awareness, campaign materials and tailored support for your organisation.
Your managers
The Managing Mental Health in Construction training for Line Managers and Supervisors provides an excellent framework for leaders and managers, increasing their understanding and awareness of mental health, how to spot the signs, support their team and how to have conversations about mental health.
Your worker representatives
Worker reps facilitate health and safety dialogue and workers’ responses to consultations. Encourage them to enhance their skills, offer access to Mental Health First Aid training.
Your counselling helpline
Discuss with your counselling or employee assistance service how they can support Mates in Mind. Consider extending your service to subcontractor staff who work with you.
