Awareness & Education

Here at Mates in Mind, we believe that one of the best ways to create long lasting change within an organisation, is by educating and informing a workforce. In order to support organisations to change their workplace culture and generate vital awareness about mental ill-health, we have developed three core courses, which act as a key pillar to our overall Support programme.

Mental Health First Aid

A 2-day course for anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of mental health.

If there was an incident on site – would you know what to do? If it was first aid related, you’d get your first aider to attend to it. So why not do the same thing if it related to a mental health condition?

Start the Conversation

A 45-minute awareness session about mental health in the workforce.

It’s important to create general awareness and understanding of the issues facing your workers. Stigma is still one of the biggest barriers, particularly in the workplace. A good place to begin is by starting a conversation.

Manage the Conversation

A half-day (3 hours) training course to increase awareness of mental ill health amongst foremen, supervisors and managers.

Manage the Conversation training for line managers and supervisors provides an excellent framework for leaders increasing their understanding and awareness of mental health, how to spot the signs, support their team and how to have conversations about mental health.

Listen, Support & Signpost.

Our Listen, Support and Signpost workshop provides support and guidance to in-house mental health and wellbeing champions. This is a one-hour interactive workshop that provides mental health and wellbeing champions with the opportunity to discuss issues openly with peers, and explore how they can adapt their role and support to colleagues.

Workplace Health and Wellbeing Training Course for Directors

This course aims to provide directors and senior managers with an understanding of how to support the health and wellbeing of people in their organisation.

Workplace Health and Wellbeing Training Course for Line Managers

This course provides line managers with an understanding of how to support the health and wellbeing of people within their team.

Workplace Health and Wellbeing Training Course for Employees

This course on health and wellbeing will show employees how to increase their resilience, drive better engagement, reduce sickness absence and enable higher performance and productivity.

We are pleased to be able to also offer a suite of mental health e-learning courses, which are available for Mates in Mind Supporters and contacts to purchase delivered by our sister charity, British Safety Council.

E-learning courses are a cost-effective solution to providing mental health training to a number of staff across multiple sites or divisions. The courses also can be used to supplement face to face training as a refresher or for remote staff. Once enrolled, users have access to the course for one year and may review the content at any point.
