Mental Health in Construction: Joint Code of Practice (JCOP)

Welcome to Mates in Mind

Established in 2017 by the Health in Construction Leadership Group (HCLG) with the support of the British Safety Council, Mates in Mind charity exists to improve the mental health and wellbeing of workplaces across the UK.

We do this by providing the skills, clarity and confidence to employers on how to raise awareness, improve understanding, implement effective interventions, end the stigma of mental ill-health, and to ensure there is a continuous and comprehensive solution in place so that no-one reaches crisis point and mental health awareness becomes everyone’s responsibility.

We believe that there is no health, without mental health.

Our Impact

We were founded to support the construction sector and it remains our mission to transform the construction sector, spreading our message and providing the ongoing support needed for organisations of all sizes to act to improve mental health in and through work. The effectiveness of our approach has gained recognition across higher-risk sectors and so we have extended our focus to include workers in industries beyond construction, enabling more UK workplaces to drive positive change, so that work is good for workers' mental health.
