Free suicide prevention training for sole traders and self-employed construction workers

World Suicide Prevention Day: 10 September

Team sales for the 2027 Mental Health World Cup are now officially OPEN.

Each year the most popular stadiums fill up fast, so it is advisable to sign up early to secure a slot (especially if you have a preferred venue).

  • Do you have a football team at work?

  • Do you want to help raise awareness of mental health?

  • Do you want to stand against suicide?

  • Do you want to raise money for charity?

The Mental Health World Cup was established in 2012 to use football as a means to raise awareness of mental health and take a stand against suicide, to fundraise for mental health charities (including Mates in Mind) and, of course, to play football.

Details

Mates in Mind is honoured to have been invited to take part (for a second year) in the Mental Health World Cup.

If you’d like to put a team forward you need to do it quickly as places are allocated on a first come first serve basis.

  • What: 5-aside tournament.

  • When: late May/early June 2027 (exact dates to be confirmed).

  • Where: your choice of stadium:
    • Everton FC.
    • Millwall FC.
    • MK Dons FC.
    • QPR FC.
    • Watford FC.

  • How: sign up your corporate team

  • Next steps: once you have signed up your team, please email us to let us know. If you are successful, please let us know which stadium you will be playing at.

Sponsorship, fundraising and volunteering opportunities

There are also opportunities to sponsor an event, fundraise, volunteer and/or buy a ticket to be a spectator and cheer on your team. However you participate, your contribution will directly benefit Mates in Mind by enabling us to continue our vital work, building partnerships to create cultures of prevention that are founded on psychosocial safety, where working practices that can create mental ill-health are designed out of the workplace.

Previous participants

We know this will be a fantastic team building event, the chance to play at a top seed stadium, and of course an opportunity to fundraise for UK mental health charities. But don’t just take our word for it. In 2026, corporate teams included:

  • BSC United (which included Mates in Mind).

  • MakeOne Group.

  • Collins Contractors.

  • Huws Gray Group.
